I entered the 2012 Canadian Christian Writing Awards hoping to place first in the &#8220;contemporary novel&#8221; category \u00a0(and did, indeed, receive an award of merit in this category). But I had no thoughts of winning the grand prize for the book of the year! I attended the gala put on by the sponsoring organization, The Word Guild, on June 13, 2012, in Ontario, and was truly astonished to be called up to the mike for the $5,000\u00a0Grace Irwin Award.
